Sr. Product Manager, AWS Kubernetes

United States , Seattle
Salary: $152,200 – $205,900 Annually
Full-time

DESCRIPTION:

Containers are redefining how customers build, deploy, and run applications. The Amazon Container Services team is looking for a Senior Product Manager (Technical) to help define the future of Kubernetes on AWS and accelerate container adoption in the cloud.

You will own product strategy and development across a set of EKS product areas, with a focus on Bottlerocket, our Linux-based operating system built for running containers. That means everything from vision and feature definition through prioritization, positioning, and GTM/adoption.

We want someone who has solved real customer problems in Kubernetes, container runtimes, or developer platforms. You should have a track record of working backwards from customer needs and turning them into products that customers love.

Working closely with engineering teams, you will see the direct impact of your work on customers who run production workloads on Kubernetes at scale. This is a high-visibility role that interacts with all levels of AWS leadership.

Our ideal candidate brings familiarity with Kubernetes, container runtimes, or the node and OS layer that clusters run on. You understand the operational realities of running containers in production: provisioning, patching, upgrades, and security posture. You thrive in a fast-paced environment that requires strong technical and business judgment.

You will define product requirements and go-to-market strategy for the customers you serve. The role requires coordination across engineering, sales, partners, and solutions architecture. You'll work with customers, open-source communities, and software vendors to prioritize roadmap features and define new capabilities.

Key job responsibilities
- Own product strategy, roadmap, and feature definition for a set of EKS product areas, with Bottlerocket as a primary focus

- Work backwards from customer needs to define product requirements for cluster capabilities, node and runtime experience, and operational tooling

- Drive the Bottlerocket product roadmap: node lifecycle, upgrade experience, custom image building, ML/accelerator instance support, and observability integration

- Lead customer engagements to collect requirements and validate product direction

- Partner with engineering to prioritize and deliver features across the full product lifecycle, from concept through launch and adoption

- Build and execute go-to-market plans in coordination with sales, solutions architecture, partner teams, and developer advocacy

- Define and track success metrics for adoption, retention, and customer outcomes

- Write narratives (PR/FAQs, strategy docs, business reviews) to drive alignment and secure investment from leadership

- Represent EKS and Bottlerocket externally at customer meetings, industry events, and community forums

- Coordinate across AWS container services (ECS, ECR, Fargate) and adjacent compute teams

A day in the life
You start your week talking to customers who run production workloads on Kubernetes. You dig into what is working and what is not, then turn that into product requirements. You whiteboard with engineering and design to iterate on solutions. You define the roadmap, present strategy to leadership, and track metrics to spot opportunities. A good chunk of your time goes to the operating system that clusters run on: how nodes get built, patched, and upgraded. Some days you review documents or mentor peers. Other days you are on stage at a conference.
