DESCRIPTION:

Transform how Amazon's advertising services organization operates at scale - building autonomous agents, intelligent assistants, and AI-powered platforms that automate service delivery for millions of advertisers, from first-time sellers to global agencies. You'll own the architectural direction for systems that span self-service support experiences to managed campaign operations, pioneering how AI changes the way advertisers get help and how operational issues get detected and resolved.

The Ad Services Engineering team builds and operates the systems that underpin the full spectrum of advertiser services. On the self-service side, we study Contact Us traffic patterns, experiment with Help content effectiveness, and optimize knowledge systems that power advertiser self-resolution. On the managed services side, we're building autonomous agents that handle low- and medium-judgment tasks currently performed by humans - freeing up Amazonians to focus on higher-value, strategic work. Across both, we're developing intelligent assistants and pioneering automated identification of product gaps from unstructured operational data - turning thousands of data points into actionable insights that drive product improvements. We're investing heavily in applied science to fundamentally change how this all works at scale.

Key job responsibilities
- Own end-to-end design and implementation of complex products for Ad Services - including web applications, platform services, and AI agents - setting the architectural direction that shapes these systems long-term
- Lead cross-functional collaboration across Amazon's advertising systems on the design and development of core Ads support functionality, influencing technical direction beyond your own team
- Drive the technical strategy for autonomous agent and intelligent assistant capabilities, translating business and scientific requirements into scalable production architectures
- Work with business teams and project managers to convert functional requirements into detailed technical specifications, bringing context for current and future technology choices
- Own operational excellence for your products - driving feature stability, performance, and flexibility while establishing engineering best practices across the team
- Coach and mentor engineers, lead design reviews, and raise the technical bar for the team and adjacent teams

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
