Full-time

DESCRIPTION:

Amazon Leo is Amazon's low Earth orbit satellite network. Our mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet connectivity to customers beyond the reach of existing networks. From individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, and government agencies, Amazon Leo will serve people and organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity.

We are seeking a Technical Program Manager (TPM) to provide leadership for our avionics development lab operations team. In this role, you will drive test lab and test equipment readiness planning through execution, including: qualification schedules and dependencies, hardware and software deliverables, test case development, test readiness reviews, mechanical GSE support, test rack support, and venue logistics coordination. You will influence lab facility design and operations while managing work streams across internal and external teams, proactively addressing risks to the critical path, removing roadblocks through stakeholder coordination and escalation, and tracking actions to closure.

This is an individual contributor role with broad organizational influence. Your technical domain knowledge, program management fundamentals, and trusted partnerships will enable you to drive organizational alignment and help teams deliver faster with higher quality.

This position requires direct technical experience developing and testing relevant systems. You will create and drive high-level strategic initiatives, but will also roll up your sleeves and contribute directly in lab operations, test equipment design and maintenance strategy and execution.

Key job responsibilities
- Act as first point of contact for technical lab operations (logistics, metrology, test)
- Manage and develop critical suppliers, contract manufacturers, and 3rd party test houses that support the development and maintenance of avionics test equipment
- Own program management lifecycle (design, schedule, procurement, deployment, deprecation) for test lab infrastructure
- Develop mechanisms to track avionics test infrastructure stakeholders, requirements, and schedule readiness
- Work with engineers to understand technical issues impeding the critical path in real time, pull in the correct stakeholders for resolution, escalate blockers, and synthesize information into data for leadership consumption (overall status, help needed, and critical path impacts)
- Draft and maintain an operations budget, including a 3 year plan that predicts operations expense and capital expense to meet program goals
- Maintain key performance indices (equipment utilization, asset calibration, etc.) related to lab operations

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

- 3+ years of technical product or program management experience
- 3+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience
- Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

- 3+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience
- Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership
- Experience influencing senior leaders/stakeholders
- Experience contributing to engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product
- Experience owning and driving large-scale cross-functional programs
- Experience with strong project management skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Experience communicating results to senior leadership, or experience working in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment
- Experience with space hardware in a design or manufacturing environment
