PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £28,400 - £33,400 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

When much of the UK is asleep, our overnight output informs, supports and connects audiences across the country. From key workers to people living alone, listeners rely on us for trusted journalism, compelling stories and companionship through the night. Based in Birmingham, we are looking for an organised and proactive Journalism Coordinator to support overnight programming across BBC Radio 5 Live, BBC Nations and BBC Local Radio.

As a Journalism Coordinator, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of overnight output across multiple services. YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:

  • Coordinating the editorial and production requirements of overnight programmes on Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings.
  • Supporting journalists, producers and presenters with programme preparation.
  • Monitoring diaries, guest bookings, running orders and story developments.
  • Assisting with the organisation and communication of editorial information across teams.
  • Helping to manage workflow and ensure deadlines are met in a fast-paced news environment.
  • Ensuring all work adheres to BBC Editorial Guidelines and relevant compliance requirements.
  • Answering phones and prepping callers of TX.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Experience supporting journalism, content production or broadcast teams.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and work effectively under pressure.
  • A collaborative approach and willingness to support colleagues across multiple teams, with a commitment to accuracy, fairness and the BBC's editorial values. Confident working in a fast-paced newsroom or media environment.

DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:

  • Experience of producing Overnight live output.
