AWS Cloud Infrastructure Engineer



Position Description


At CGI, you'll help deliver secure, resilient cloud infrastructure that underpins critical services for our clients. As a Senior AWS Cloud Infrastructure Engineer, you'll play a key role in designing, securing and optimising enterprise AWS environments, using cloud-native technologies to improve resilience, automation and operational performance. Working alongside architects, engineers and security specialists, you'll help shape modern cloud platforms, champion DevOps practices and deliver innovative infrastructure solutions that create lasting value. Due to the secure nature of the programme, you will need to hold UK Security Clearance or be eligible to go through this clearance. This is a hybrid position with occasional travel to the client site in Mansfield.




Your future duties and responsibilities


In this role, you will manage and enhance AWS cloud infrastructure, ensuring platforms remain secure, resilient and highly available. You'll take ownership of AWS-native security monitoring, reporting and alerting services, proactively identifying, triaging and resolving security issues while supporting the ongoing evolution of modern cloud infrastructure. Working closely with architects and engineering teams, you'll help deliver scalable cloud solutions that align with security, operational and business requirements.
You'll also contribute to the continuous improvement of cloud platforms by promoting Infrastructure as Code, DevOps practices and automation across the delivery lifecycle. As a senior member of the team, you'll support architectural decisions, optimise platform performance and help embed modern engineering standards that deliver reliable, secure and cost-effective cloud services.
Key responsibilities
•Design & optimise secure AWS cloud infrastructure and platform services
•Configure & manage AWS-native security monitoring, alerting and reporting capabilities
•Monitor & respond to cloud security incidents using AWS security services
•Implement & maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
•Develop & support CI/CD pipelines to improve deployment efficiency
•Administer & optimise Kubernetes-based container platforms
•Improve & automate operational processes using cloud-native technologies
•Ensure & maintain platform availability, resilience, security and disaster recovery
•Support & contribute to cloud migration and infrastructure modernisation initiatives
•Collaborate & engage with Enterprise Architects, engineers and delivery teams
•Resolve & troubleshoot complex cloud infrastructure and security issues
•Promote & champion DevOps culture, Agile delivery and continual service improvement




Required qualifications to be successful in this role


You'll be an experienced AWS Cloud Infrastructure Engineer with strong expertise in cloud security, infrastructure automation and platform operations. You'll enjoy solving complex technical challenges, collaborating across multidisciplinary teams and building secure, resilient cloud environments that support critical business services.
Essential qualifications
•Strong experience administering and supporting AWS cloud infrastructure
•Expertise in AWS CloudTrail, CloudWatch and EC2
•Experience with AWS Security Hub, GuardDuty, Inspector, Config and Web Application Firewall (WAF)
•Knowledge of AWS Security Incident Response and Trusted Advisor
•Strong experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code
•Experience building and supporting CI/CD pipelines
•Experience administering Kubernetes environments
•Strong understanding of cloud security, monitoring and operational best practices
•Experience supporting highly available, resilient cloud platforms
•Excellent troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills
•Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
•Eligibility to obtain UK Security Clearance
Desirable qualifications
•AWS Solutions Architect or AWS Security certification
•Experience supporting hybrid cloud or on-premises infrastructure
•Knowledge of backup, disaster recovery and business continuity planning
•Experience working within Agile and DevOps delivery environments
•Experience supporting public sector or regulated industry environments
