We're looking for...

An organised and reliable individual to provide operational and financial support to the Venue Manager and Location Accountant at the Royal Dublin Society and Horse Racing Ireland venues.

The role will involve assisting with the daily running and reporting of the commercial office, as well as overseeing commercial staff and cashiers during events to ensure smooth operations, accurate cash handling and excellent service.

Commercial Supervisor - The Role

  • Ensure all commercial areas are fully prepared for daily operations, with floats, tills and PDQ machines in place and ready for use.
  • Issue, record and reconcile all floats, PDQs, fobs and associated documentation, ensuring accurate sign-off procedures are followed.
  • Brief and allocate commercial cashiers to event areas, ensuring all staff understand cash-handling and PDQ procedures.
  • Provide till and cash-handling training to new and agency staff before the start of their shifts.
  • Monitor tills throughout events, carrying out spot checks, cash uplifts and change requirements, and investigate any discrepancies promptly.
  • Ensure all PDQ machines are regularly checked, with any faults, suspected tampering or data protection concerns reported and recorded appropriately.
  • Oversee end-of-day till declarations, ensuring all cash, vouchers and paperwork are accurate, complete and securely returned to the commercial office.
  • Complete daily cash reconciliations and banking records, ensuring figures are accurate, double-checked and properly recorded.

What we're looking for

  • Strong attention to detail, with a high level of accuracy when handling cash, floats and financial records.
  • Previous experience in a commercial, retail, hospitality or event environment, involving cash handling.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy, fast-paced environment.
  • Confident leadership and communication skills, with the ability to brief, support and oversee commercial staff.
  • A strong understanding of cash-handling procedures, tills and PDQ/card payment systems.
  • Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies or operational issues quickly and effectively.
  • Reliable, trustworthy and confident working with financial information and cash.
  • A proactive and professional approach, with the ability to work independently while supporting the wider team.
