Position Overview

Role Description

  • The Market Conduct Office (MCO) is an opportunity to embed market conduct in business decisions, and to improve the efficiency, sustainability and transparency of Market Conduct controls management. Residing within the Front Office, reporting up into the Head of the IB, and will focus on providing governance and oversight for all of Deutsche Bank activities related to market conduct.
  • MCO will promote resiliency and sustainability of the Market Conduct control environment and mitigate risks by overseeing and supporting the firm’s risk management, internal controls, governance, and culture relating to market conduct in order to foster trust and confidence in Deutsche Bank’s provision of financial services.
  • MCO strategically brings together the existing market conduct capabilities with the Firm’s overall risk management framework to complement existing processes and create efficiencies while ensuring central oversight.
  • You will support the implementation of a strategic and sustainable control oversight program and be focusing on translating multiple sources of market conduct information (such as alerts, events, and control improvements identified) into tangible actions to maintain a strong controls culture embedded into our Bank.

Your key responsibilities

  • Review findings management portfolio (identified through self-identified issues, audit, regulators, investigations) for market conduct impact and drive through to completion
  • Conduct root cause analysis and read across of identified issues to other businesses and divisions
  • Conduct analysis of market conduct key control effectiveness across business lines and divisions
  • Review and input into control design prior to implementation of control enhancements
  • Collect data to conduct horizon scanning: emerging risks, external conduct events, new regulations/ laws, industry standards. Prepare and present impact assessment
  • Perform high quality analysis of risk and control related data such as risk profile, control effectiveness, findings. Review closure of exceptions, alerts and identify themes
  • Provide support for team’s governance activities by obtaining information, preparing materials, coordinating stakeholders across all control functions
  • Support assessment of conduct risk of new rules, regulations and new business initiatives

Your skills and experience

  • Comprehensive understanding of financial markets and products
  • Experience in a non-financial risk management role in Banking and/or Global Markets in either 1st Line of Defence / Business Risk or Compliance roles
  • Proven organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, aligned with excellent attention to detail and time management
  • Excellent communication, both written and oral, and the ability to convey complex concepts simply and foster transparency across teams and levels
  • Proven track record of design, delivery and oversight of future state controls
  • Proven track record of successfully working within diverse, high performing teams and departments both locally and remotely

The MI, Reporting, & Governance role will focus on translating multiple sources of market conduct information into tangible actions to ensure a strong controls culture are embedded into our Bank. The successful candidate will:

  • Partner with first and second line teams to establish appropriate governance and conduct risk management frameworks
  • Coordinate the preparation of meeting packs for senior market conduct governance forums
  • Supporting ongoing regulatory reporting and monitoring with market conduct nexus
  • Support the business by communicating market conduct requirements and providing actionable guidance to ensure compliance with relevant laws, rules and regulations.
  • Support the design of market conduct controls and monitor control effectiveness.
  • Ensure complete and timely resolution of market conduct issues, exceptions, and findings.

Your skills and experience

  • Knowledge and understanding of financial markets/products.
  • Familiarity with governance, risk management, and conduct frameworks.
  • Excellent communication, both written and oral, and the ability to convey complex concepts simply and foster transparency across teams and levels.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, including the ability to collaborate, create buy-in, and manage expectations.
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills for synthesizing inputs from diverse sources.
  • Proven organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, aligned with excellent attention to detail and time management.
