The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for its Projects Directorate (PJ), Sustainability, Impact and Advisory Department (SAI), Sustainability & Climate Office (S&CO), Implementation Unit (IMP) at its headquarters in Luxembourg, a Social and Gender Expert *.
This is a full-time temporary position at grade 5.
The term of this contract will be 2 years.

In this role, you will help drive the implementation of the Bank's social development policies and standards, shaping streamlined frameworks and management approaches with a strong focus on gender. You will design practical tools and guidance to ensure a consistent approach to gender and social inclusion across the Bank's intermediated lending, including providing helpdesk support to colleagues. A key part of your work will be leading the development of new digital appraisal tools for staff and clients, enabling the Bank to scale up its financing for gender equality effectively and efficiently. You will also take ownership of the final quality assurance of Group‑wide gender data-overseeing dashboards, reporting, and contributions under the SAB and 2X qualifications-while helping to elevate the visibility and storytelling of the Bank's gender achievements across the Group. This is a chance to combine technical expertise, innovation, and strategic influence to strengthen the Bank's impact on gender equality.
The field of gender in finance is gaining unprecedented visibility, and the Bank is entering an exciting phase with the approval of its third Gender Action Plan. In the coming years, there will be strong focus on ensuring its effective implementation and demonstrating real impact. This work will feed directly into the Bank's refreshed social narrative for 2026 and beyond, aligning closely with major EU initiatives such as the Social Pillar Action Plan and the EU Anti‑Poverty Strategy. Occasional travel outside Luxembourg adds an international dimension to the work and offers opportunities to engage with partners across regions.
