Regulatory Analyst

United Kingdom , London
Salary: £60,000 – £65,000 Annually
Full-time

The role

The Regulatory team is responsible for reviewing and analysing financial regulations and translating them into algorithms. You’ll take ownership of regulatory analysis across a range of jurisdictions, working with our global client base on queries relating to the interpretation of compliance regulations across 100+ jurisdictions, as well as working directly with our legal information provider.

This role brings together a unique mix of finance, law and technology. You’ll be expected to get hands-on, applying your judgement to interpret regulation and code rules directly into our rules engine. You’ll own pieces of regulatory work from analysis through to implementation and testing, while knowing when to draw on more senior expertise for particularly complex or novel issues.

You’ll also work closely with Product and Client Services to identify potential product improvements and with Engineering to enhance the functionality and scope of our rules. Our products include Shareholding Disclosure, Sensitive Industries, Position Limits, Automated Filing and regulatory reporting such as AIFMD and Form PF.

You’ll develop and apply deep expertise in a substantial regulatory or product area, while building working expertise in products in addition to Shareholding Disclosure. You’ll lead selected team initiatives, constructively review and challenge colleagues’ analyses, and proactively communicate the client, product and cross-team impact of regulatory changes. You’ll regularly give and seek feedback and share knowledge and best practices across the wider department.

This is your chance to take meaningful ownership within a fast-moving SaaS company that values people, purpose and progress. 🚀

What You'll Be Working On

  • Independently analysing financial regulation and translating complex requirements into our domain-specific rule language.
  • Owning regulatory changes and rule updates through analysis, implementation, testing and release.
  • Applying judgement to regulatory interpretation, identifying ambiguities or risks and escalating particularly complex issues where appropriate.
  • Investigating client queries relating to regulatory interpretation and rule logic, working with Client Services to provide clear and well-reasoned answers.
  • Working directly with our legal information provider to research and clarify regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborating with Product and Engineering on modifications and enhancements to our services, bringing a regulatory perspective to product decisions.
  • Reviewing and testing regulatory rules to ensure they accurately reflect the underlying requirements.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve how the Regulatory team works and taking ownership of implementing practical improvements.
  • Contributing to team standards and best practices around regulatory analysis, coding, testing and documentation.
  • Sharing knowledge with colleagues and supporting less experienced team members where appropriate.

What You'll Bring To The Team

  • Experience in a regulatory, compliance, legal, technical, quantitative or business analyst role, ideally within financial services or RegTech. Experience with FundApps products is a plus.
  • Experience interpreting complex requirements or regulation and turning them into clear, practical outputs.
  • Good knowledge of financial instruments such as equities, bonds and derivatives.
  • The ability to work independently and take ownership of work, while recognising when an issue needs additional input or escalation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the confidence to work through ambiguity rather than relying on prescribed answers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex topics clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • A precise and logical approach to your work, with strong attention to detail.
  • A collaborative mindset and willingness to contribute to how the wider team works, not just your own individual tasks.
We don't expect you to tick every box; if you get warm fuzzy feelings about what we're trying to achieve at FundApps, then we want to hear from you!
