Working in close partnership with Development, Technical Design, Materials, and Merchandising, the team translates creative intent into highly considered, performance-led product. This collaborative process connects concept to construction, ensuring each piece reflects lululemon's design DNA while advancing the aesthetic through innovative materials, precision fit, and purposeful detailing.
Situated within the Women's Performance categories, this role is focused on strengthening the assortment through elevated design thinking, technical innovation, and refined craftsmanship. The work is grounded in movement and function, with a clear emphasis on performance integrity and relevance within a highly technical product landscape.

Designing in this space requires deep expertise in fabric and trim, strong draping and construction skills, and a clear understanding of the relationship between the body in motion and garment performance. The work balances functionality, comfort, and longevity with modern proportion and elevated detailing, delivering product that performs at the highest level while maintaining a refined, contemporary aesthetic.
what you'll do
- Lead the design of assigned categories, creating refined performance products that integrates performance thinking into everyday wear to create elevated essentials, refined separates, and modern wardrobe foundations with a sophisticated, fashion-forward sensibility.
- Design modern silhouettes that balance movement, comfort, and contemporary style.
- Translate creative vision into precise sketches, CADs, and technical packages, clearly communicating construction, drape, proportion, and trims.
- Drive fit, fabric, and finish conversations, working in close partnership with Development, Technical Design, and Fabric teams to achieve high‑quality execution.
- Apply strong knowledge of both performance-led fabrics, trims, and raw materials to deliver purposeful, well-considered product, that feel fluid, considered, and purposeful.
- Partner with Design leadership to research, develop, and introduce exclusive materials, trims, and finishes that elevate the assortment.
- Contribute to colour and graphic stories informed by sport, culture, and modern lifestyles, aligned to seasonal direction.
- Ensure each product reflects lululemon's aesthetic codes, design integrity, and construction standards while challenging conventions where appropriate.
- Support and mentor junior designers, fostering technical confidence, curiosity, and collaboration.
- Stay informed on global fashion, activewear, culture, and sustainability - applying insight selectively rather than trend chasing.
- Champion innovation in fabric development, modern construction techniques, and responsible material choices.
who you are
- An experienced womenswear designer with a strong point of view and a disciplined approach to craft.
- Comfortable designing across Athletic & Performance, categories, adapting your thinking without losing design integrity.
- Confident collaborating cross‑functionally and communicating design intent with clarity and conviction.
- Curious, pragmatic, and motivated by creating product that earns its place in a crowded market.
qualifications
- 8+ years of professional design experience.
- A strong portfolio showcasing women's apparel across multiple categories, with a performance background
- Deep expertise in fabrics, draping, trims, fit, and garment construction.
- Skilled in hand sketching, CAD, and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Experience working with global development calendars and overseas manufacturing partners.
- Proven ability to mentor junior designers and collaborate effectively across disciplines.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with confidence presenting design work.
- A thoughtful approach to diversity, equity, and inclusion in both design and team culture.
