The Role:

Enterprise Sustainability is looking for a Sustainability Data & Insights Analyst to own the collection and integrity of our core sustainability data and, just as importantly, to turn that data into insight. This role sits at the intersection of data operations and strategic communication: you'll maintain the SOPs and processes to support accurate and timely reporting, while also tracking client demand signals, supporting sales enablement, and helping the team understand what our data says about where the strategy should go next.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Data collection, SOPs & governance

• Document and publish SOPs for core team processes - data collection, system workflows (Net Zero Cloud, Novisto), and internal review procedures; maintain a standard SOP template and central repository
• Assist in the timely, accurate completion of the annual sustainability data pull and approval process to support CS reporting and compliance
• Serve as a point of contact for data partners and owners across the business, tracking requests and handoffs

Client demand intelligence & sales enablement

• Track and analyze inbound ESG-related client requests (RFPs, DDQs) to identify trends by region, product, and account
• Maintain and update the Sustainability Sales Enablement Toolkit, client talking points, trend data, positioning materials
• Partner with Sales Enablement and Deal Desk to keep sales teams current on sustainability value propositions and how to use them with clients

Investor resources & ownership analysis

• Maintain and update investor-facing sustainability materials and resources
• Support ESG-intentional ownership analysis, tracking Morningstar's standing with ESG-focused investors and relevant holdings/ratings trends
• Contribute data and analysis to investor deck updates and related coordination with Investor Relations

Insight & strategy

• Synthesize data across data collection, client demand, investor analysis, and brand engagement to identify trends and patterns, build dashboards for visibility of sustainability data across the firm and leadership
• Translate findings into recommendations that inform team strategy, prioritization, and OKR planning
• Support sustainability initiatives and programs that advance Morningstar's business and sustainability goals.

 

Qualifications:

• 3-6 years of experience in sustainability/ESG, data analysis, marketing/communications analytics, or a related field
• Demonstrated experience building or maintaining SOPs, documentation, or process governance
• Comfort working across disparate data sources (platform data, survey/engagement data, RFP trend data) and synthesizing them into a coherent narrative
• Strong written communication skills as this role produces materials read by sales teams, investors, and leadership
• High attention to detail balanced with comfort stepping back to see broader trends.

Nice to have:

• Exposure to ESG ratings/rankings methodologies
• FSA credential (or in progress) or equivalent sustainability certification 
• Experience supporting external assurance/audit processes

Total Cash Compensation Range

$95,275.00-139,741.66
