• The Lead Investigator is responsible for the oversight, management and strategic delivery of the Group Investigations function within the country and, where required, across the region. The role leads the most significant and sensitive investigations, provides expert advice to senior executives, and ensures investigations are conducted consistently, independently and in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and Group standards.
• The role drives the development of investigative capability, manages key internal and external stakeholder relationships, identifies emerging misconduct and financial crime risks, and oversees the implementation of lessons learned and remediation arising from investigations.
• The Lead Investigator acts as the principal investigative advisor for the country, representing Group Investigations before senior governance forums, regulators and law enforcement agencies where required, while promoting a strong culture of integrity, accountability and effective risk management.
• Lead Investigators must apply standards confidently, make proportionate risk-based decisions when information is incomplete, and delivers clear, defensible high-quality reports with minimal review.
• Leads or materially supports regulatory and government investigations, production orders and data requests.

• Develops and executes investigation strategies for assigned matters. Applies judgement to evolving risks and contributes insights to improve investigative practices.

• Builds trusted relationships with clients and partner functions. Provides advice, challenge and regular updates on investigation progress and risks.

• Leads investigations end-to-end with limited supervision. Determines investigative approach, evaluates evidence, interviews witnesses and subjects, and produces defensible findings.

• Identifies, assesses and manages investigation-related risks. Works with stakeholders to ensure remediation is appropriately tracked and implemented.

• 8+ years substantive background in enforcement actions, investigations or prosecutorial and regulatory agency environment, with local expertise within India primarily and other ASIA markets.
• Certified Fraud Examiner accreditation or similar.
• Bachelor's degree in relevant field, such as Legal, Business, Finance, or Accountancy.
• Sharp business acumen with experience of investigations in white collar corporate environment and/or experience advising or managing complex investigations and related risks representing financial institutions.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct best practice investigations (remote and physical) with a high level of integrity, independence, resilience, professionalism, pragmatism, and discretion.
• Advanced communication skills in English, particularly in report writing and verbal communication.
• Understand key features of relevant laws and regulations relevant to Bank and the role of Investigations.
• Knowledgeable and sound judgement of business practices, regulatory relationship management and reputational risk in a financial institution.
