Here's the exciting bit...a day includes

  • Totake full responsibility of the daily transport operation and manage any ad-hocrequests to meet business requirements.  
  • Tomotivate, coach and develop a team of colleagues in order that they are able tocarry out their duties in a knowledgeable, efficient and safe manner.
  • Totake ownership and monitor all people management issues for permanent staffwithin their area of responsibility, liaising with their HR to ensure a fairand consistent approach in accordance with company policies. 
  • Takeresponsibility for the weekly performance of the site with regards to Compliance (H&S), Delivery Performance, People, Cost, KPI Performance and Shinkage
  • Tocontinuously review and develop specified processes within their area ofresponsibility, working closely with the driver management team, planning team& DC operational teams linking into the transport dept.  
  • Toprovide store operations with a comprehensive and reliable service, optimisinginstore availability via the transport function
  • To collaboratefully with other Team Leaders & their teams in order to support the overallperformance of a shift. 
  • To provide an effective and seamless shift handover to the oncoming team. 
  • To provide the Transport Manager with timely updates on progress within theirarea of responsibility and raise and resolve areas of concern.
  • Positively contribute to ensuring a site culture which demonstrates the Companyvalues. 
  • Deliver objectives and targets set by the Transport Manager through your PDR.Understand company values and demonstrate improvementin key areas.

What you'll need:

  • Excellent analytical and IT skills
  • Strong people management skills
  • Good understanding of cost reports, operational efficiencies and cost management
  • Sound knowledge of Transport management systems
  • Excellent planning and project management skills
  • Proven Management experience within a distribution environment or similar
  • To collaborate fully with fellow Team Leaders and colleagues to support business performance
