DESCRIPTION:
Join our team as a Staff Engineer, Systems Design at Thermo Fisher Scientific, where you'll contribute to innovation in scientific instrumentation and solutions. You'll guide the development of sophisticated systems while working with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products that enable our customers to make breakthrough discoveries. In this role, you'll translate customer needs into technical requirements, architect complex systems, and ensure thorough execution from concept through validation. You'll have the opportunity to work on advanced technologies including electron microscopy, mass spectrometry, bioprocessing systems, and laboratory automation platforms. This position offers technical leadership opportunities and the chance to mentor other engineers while contributing to our mission of enabling customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer.

REQUIREMENTS:
• Advanced Degree plus 6 years of experience, or Bachelor's Degree plus 8 years of experience in systems engineering, product development, and technical leadership for complex scientific instrumentation
• Preferred Fields of Study: Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or related technical field
• Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and implementing collaborative solutions within project schedules
• Expert knowledge of systems engineering methodologies, requirements management, and model-based systems engineering (MBSE)
• Strong analytical skills with ability to perform statistical analysis, DOE, FMEA, and root cause analysis
• Experience with verification and validation planning, test development, and systems integration
• Demonstrated expertise in architecting and designing complex electro-mechanical systems
• Project management abilities to coordinate cross-functional teams and deliver on schedule
• Strong communication skills to effectively present technical concepts to diverse audiences
• Experience mentoring engineers and providing technical leadership
• Proficiency with relevant engineering tools and software (e.g. MATLAB, CAD, requirements management tools)
• Knowledge of quality systems and regulatory requirements for scientific instruments
• Experience with agile development methodologies preferred
• Ability to travel up to 20% as needed
• Strong problem-solving capabilities and attention to detail
• Interpersonal skills and ability to influence through collaboration
