The consultancy will deliver a learning journey and a coherent cultural and experiential framework for the Peace and Disarmament Festival that enables participants to develop, refine and showcase their initiatives through creative, collaborative and storytelling-based approaches. The assignment will foster meaningful participant engagement, support the integration of participant-led initiatives into a cohesive festival experience, and generate lessons learned and recommendations for future editions of the programme.

Duties and Responsibilities

Background The Youth Leader Fund for a World Without nuclear weapons aims to cultivate a new generation of youth leaders committed to peacebuilding, nuclear disarmament and international cooperation. Through learning activities, collaborative work and project development, participants strengthen leadership capacities and contribute to public dialogue on peace and disarmament. Participants develop initiatives that will be presented during the Peace Festival, a public event designed to showcase youth-led ideas, foster dialogue and promote creative engagement around peace and disarmament issues. Duties and Responsibilities 1. Learning Journey Design and Facilitation * Design and facilitate a structured learning journey based on co-creation, storytelling and collaborative methodologies; * Develop session methodologies and supporting materials; * Facilitate learning sessions throughout the programme; * Support participants in the development and refinement of their initiatives through collaborative exercises and mentoring; * Conduct group mentoring sessions and provide feedback on emerging proposals; * Facilitate collective reflection and knowledge-sharing processes; * Support participants in preparation for the Peace Festival; * Deliver a final learning and reflection session to capture lessons learned and recommendations for future young leaders. 2. Peace Festival Cultural Design and Curation * Develop the conceptual and curatorial framework for the Peace Festival; * Design the overall YLF participants and audience experience of the festival; * Develop a framework to integrate YLF participants’ initiatives into a coherent experience; * Support the curation and organization of participant-generated content; * Contributes to the design of audience engagement and interaction mechanisms; * Provide technical guidance regarding the Peace and Disarmament Festival narrative, thematic coherence and participant contributions; * Support implementation planning and preparation processes. * Participate in two in-person programme missions in Mexico as part of the assignment: (i) a scoping mission during the inception phase to support programme design, planning and stakeholder engagement (September 2026), and (ii) the Peace and Disarmament Festival (February 2027). Travel and related expenses associated with the scoping mission will be arranged and covered by UNLIREC in accordance with applicable United Nations rules and procedures. Any costs associated with participation in the Peace and Disarmament Festival should be included in the Consultant's financial proposal. 3. Coordination, Documentation and Knowledge Capture   * Maintain regular coordination with UNLIREC and relevant programme partners;  * Participate in planning and review meetings;  * Document key learning outcomes throughout the process;  * Prepare final recommendations to strengthen future editions of the YLF programme and Festival;  * Contribute inputs for communication, visibility and reporting purposes when required. 

Qualifications/special skills

Work Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in cultural design, workshop facilitation, youth engagement, innovation, design thinking, co-creation processes, or related fields. Education: Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in education, social sciences, design, communication, cultural management, international relations, public policy or related fields.  Experience in cultural design, public engagement initiatives, festivals, exhibitions or similar collaborative events.  Minimum 5 years of experience in cultural design, workshop facilitation, youth engagement, innovation, design thinking, co-creation processes, or related fields. Demonstrated experience designing and facilitating participatory learning processes for youth audiences is desirable.  Experience working with international organizations, United Nations or multistakeholder initiatives is desirable.  Experience working in Latin America and the Caribbean is desirable. 

Languages

• English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat, and Spanish is the working language of the Regional Office. • For the post advertised, fluency in Portuguese is required.
