Your New Role

We are CNN. THE WORLD'S MOST ESSENTIAL AND ENGAGING SOURCE OF DIGITAL NEWS. We are in the midst of rapid transformation and need our next generation of innovators, makers, and dreamers who will lead and drive our growth. We aim to make the world a better, more connected place.

The Staff Product Manager, Developer Experience, is responsible for the end-to-end experience of CNN's engineers, accelerating and amplifying their capability to deliver end user value, starting with their onboarding to when their code reaches production and over 100 million end users. Operating within the Digital Platform Group, this role partners across engineering and platform teams to improve the full developer lifecycle, from how engineers learn CNN's platform, workflows, tooling, and infrastructure, to how quickly and safely they can go from code commit to production deploy. This role is accountable for measurable improvements in time to productivity for new engineers, engineering velocity, and release safety across CNN's digital platform.

  • Own Developer Experience and Operations, a strategic priority product area with high complexity, defining the product vision, strategy, goals, metrics, and roadmap in close partnership with engineering leads who bring the technical depth
  • Collaborate with engineering leads to design and improve the end-to-end developer onboarding journey, ensuring engineers can learn CNN's platform, workflows, tooling, and infrastructure quickly and begin delivering value to end users as fast as possible
  • Identify and reduce bottlenecks in CNN's build, test, and deployment pipeline, improving code commit to production cycle time while increasing release volume and deployment safety
  • Drive adoption of developer platform tooling, deployment workflows, and engineering operations processes, measuring usage to validate impact and inform iteration
  • Partner with engineering teams and data to develop insights that drive decisions, actively identifying and closing gaps in understanding of the developer experience
  • Continuously monitor the developer experience landscape, developing data insights that inform strategy and influence decisions across engineering and product teams
  • Lead through influence and cross-team collaboration to drive best practice adoption, increase organizational effectiveness, and continuously raise the bar for how CNN's engineers onboard, build, test, and deploy

Required

  • 8+ years of product management experience, owning a strategic priority product area with high complexity and ambiguity
  • Demonstrated experience owning internal developer tools, developer platforms, or infrastructure related products, with engineers as the primary stakeholder
  • Technical fluency in CI/CD, build systems, deployment pipelines, and developer tooling
  • Familiarity with DORA metrics and demonstrated experience using engineering data to diagnose bottlenecks and drive product decisions
  • Strong track record of driving adoption of platform tooling and engineering best practices across a large organization
  • Proven ability to lead through influence and cross-functional collaboration, delivering measurable outcomes without direct authority
  • Demonstrated ability to develop data insights that inform strategy and influence decisions across engineering and product teams
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, accessible language that resonates with product and business leaderships
  • Excellent written and oral communication, producing clear product artifacts that are used as examples of quality work by the broader team

Preferred

  • Experience at a media company, publisher, or complex multi-platform digital organization
  • Background in engineering operations, incident management, or deployment governance
  • Proven track record of driving organizational behavior change in engineering organizations
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted developer tooling and a clear point of view on where it does and does not meaningfully accelerate engineering velocity

How We Get Things Done…

You can find them at www.wbd.com/guiding-principles/ along with some insights from the team on what they mean and how they show up in their day to day. We hope they resonate with you and look forward to discussing them during your interview.
