Position summary

 

Get into the disputes that determine who owns the technologies shaping tomorrow's markets.


Join Winston Taylor's Patents team and work directly on high-stakes litigation for leading businesses across life sciences, telecommunications, engineering and technology. When clients face threats to their most valuable innovations, you'll be part of the team that develops the strategy, drives the case forward and delivers commercial outcomes.


You'll work on High Court and UPC disputes from the outset, partnering with clients, experts and barristers to tackle complex legal and technical challenges. From shaping case strategy and preparing key evidence to navigating multi-jurisdictional disputes, you'll be trusted to make a meaningful contribution from day one and play a visible role in matters that define industries.

 

Position responsibilities

 

  • Drive forward High Court and UPC patent litigation matters, helping to formulate strategy, manage workstreams and deliver successful outcomes for clients.
  • Advise clients through every stage of a dispute, from pre-action strategy and risk assessment through to trial preparation and resolution.
  • Take ownership of relationships with clients, experts and barristers, coordinating key inputs and maintaining momentum on fast-moving matters.
  • Contribute to cross-border patent disputes and support wider patent-focused commercial work, including licensing, R&D collaborations and technology-related transactions.

 

Experience, skills, and qualifications

 

  • Qualified solicitor with ideally 0 - 3 years' PQE and a strong foundation in patent litigation.
  • Strong analytical and technical capability, with the ability to turn complex issues into clear and commercially focused advice.
  • Experience of patent disputes, with exposure to SEP/FRAND matters viewed favourably.
  • Proactive, commercially minded and confident building relationships with clients and colleagues in a high-performance environment. A STEM background would be advantageous.
