WPP Production is seeking an Art Director for future projects
What does an Art Director do at WPP Production?
The Art Director is responsible for producing artwork files that are matched to the brief and suitable for their intended use. You will work across a range of jobs that are primarily print-based, with an increasing focus on digital and motion executions, and are campaign based. Your knowledge of print production is of a high level, and you are experienced in deciphering briefs, feedback, die lines, and print specs to produce high-end print files. Additionally, you possess a strong understanding of motion graphics and video production to adapt campaigns across various media, and you are adept at leveraging AI tools to enhance creativity and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Be able to interpret a brief/creative feedback and implement it in layouts, both static and motion-based.
- To use your creative and technical skills, including proficiency with AI design tools, to provide the best design solutions for the client across print, digital, and video platforms.
- Produce high-quality print-ready files for a range of printing systems (digital, lithe, gravure, and screen) and prepare assets suitable for motion graphics and video production, utilizing AI tools where appropriate to streamline workflows.
- Effective and timely management of assigned projects, ensuring consistent quality across all deliverables.
- Process amends in an accurate manner across multiple files and formats.
- Complete and track charge-back paperwork and timesheets necessary.
- Maintain a superior knowledge of the latest technology, design trends, and production techniques, including advancements in motion graphics, video editing software, and AI-powered creative tools; and learn new programs as they are released.
- To advise studio management of file status or any potential issues with the file that will affect deadlines or production, including motion and video assets.
- Follow all aspects of file management and quality control methods as directed by Studio Management.
- Maintain brand guidelines and consistency of work across multiple pieces, ensuring brand integrity across all media.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s in Graphic Design, Animation, or a related field.
- 2+ years in a studio environment.
- Advanced English - excellent command of spoken/written language (Interview will be done in English).
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a bilingual environment (English/Spanish).
- In-depth knowledge of Mac computers.
- Excellent typography skills.
- Understand layout challenges of individual projects; able to provide creative/technical solutions to problems in both static and motion contexts.
- Experience in Photoshop comps and the ability to turn comps into production-ready files if required.
- Thorough knowledge of graphic design, pre-press, and print processes.
- Proven ability to work with complex packaging die lines and set up of multiple finishes and embellishments.
- Demonstrable knowledge of motion graphics principles and software (e.g., Adobe After Effects).
- Understanding of video production workflows, including editing, color grading, and export specifications.
- Proven experience and knowledge of AI tools relevant to graphic design, motion graphics, and video production (e.g., generative AI for imagery, AI-powered editing assistants).
- Able to provide clear feedback and honest assessments of work.
- Excellent organization and time management skills.
- High level of proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere Pro), Adobe Acrobat, Flight Check, and general Typography and Computer Graphics.

- An exceptional eye for great design and a deep passion for the craft, coupled with the desire to be involved in and make an impact on the design and execution of the final piece.
- Superior crafting skills, demonstrating meticulous attention to detail and precision in all design and production work.
- High level of attention to detail in all aspects of design and production.
- The ability to understand a Key Visual and adapt this into other pieces without changing the direction from the original piece, ensuring seamless translation across different media, including motion.
- Proficiency in utilizing AI tools to enhance creativity, optimize workflows, and generate innovative design solutions.
- To be able to work effectively with a Creative Director and interpret their vision into print-ready artwork and motion assets.
