1. Understand why you’re in your job
Why do you do what you do? If you don’t know why you need to
find out and make sure you’re in the right line of work for you. Try
reading Simon
Sinek’s book, Start With Why, and see where you end up.
2. Set
yourself goals at work
Try setting up short term and long term goals for you to achieve
at work. Want to get promoted within the next year? Start working on steps you
can achieve every day to get there.
3. Improve
your skillset
You need to keep yourself sharp and focused. Try leaning a
new skill – step outside your comfort zone but make sure it’s something that’s
still relevant to your career. Ask if there are any training programs at work,
or if you can go to a conference or seminar.
4. Get
feedback
Ask your manager for some feedback, feedback can motivate
you and help you focus on areas you need to improve on. Asking for feedback
also shows the higher-ups that you’re invested in your future.
5. Stay
positive!
Start each day by saying something positive to yourself, don’t go into work feeling down and negative about everything – focus on the good! Avoid office gossip, don’t take things personally, and watch how you interact with co-workers.
