ABB Colleagues Volunteer at Special Olympics Zug: Showing Up for Each Other

ABB colleagues recently joined athletes and volunteers at the Special Olympics Zug, and came back with stories that stayed with them.

"Being there, you could feel what it means to show up for each other," one volunteer shared. "Their team spirit, determination, and commitment to achieving something together were truly inspiring."

The Special Olympics brings together athletes with intellectual disabilities to compete, connect and be celebrated. For ABB volunteers, being part of that environment was a reminder of what genuine inclusion looks and feels like in practice, not as a policy, but as a lived experience.

Community engagement as a core commitment

Volunteering at events like Special Olympics Zug is part of how ABB shows up beyond the workplace. In 2025, ABB colleagues contributed more than 6,000 person-days of volunteer work across 44 countries, supporting over 630 projects and charities worldwide. Employees and business areas donated $9.4 million to communities in need.

ABB's community engagement focuses on four areas: equitable access to education, environmental conservation, empowering fragile communities, and emergency and disaster relief. The thread connecting all of them is the same one visible at Special Olympics Zug, people choosing to show up for others.
