Alex Kingston Would Be Happy to Return as Doctor Who Love Interest, Now the Doctor is a Woman
February 22, 2019Doctor Who actress Alex Kingston, who played the Doctor’s wife River Song from 2008 to 2015, said she would welcome a return to show now that the Doctor is played by Jodie Whittaker.
In an interview with Radio Times she said she even met up with Whittaker at last year’s comic con and discussed the return then.
“I did meet her… we chatted about me coming back to Doctor Who!
“I love the character (of River Song), and I think that, my gosh, there are wonderful potential opportunities down the road.”
She did add, however, that “it’s not my decision.”
When asked if it would matter that the doctor is female now, Kingston said it wouldn’t: “The fact is, because they’re all the same person ultimately, I don’t think she would think of her any differently to any of the others in a way.”
