An Audience with Shamim Sarif: an evening of film, identity and inclusion

Award‑winning filmmaker, novelist and screenwriter Shamim Sarif will take centre stage in London this summer for an inspiring evening of storytelling, culture and LGBTQ+ representation on screen – and myGwork is proud to be a sponsoring partner.

As part of the Mint Cultural Series, “An Audience with Shamim Sarif” will take place on 21 July 2026, from 6:30pm to 10:00pm, at The Century Club, 61–63 Shaftesbury Avenue, London W1D 6LQ. The event promises an intimate atmosphere where creativity, identity and community meet.

Best known for acclaimed films such as “I Can’t Think Straight”, “The World Unseen”, “Despite the Falling Snow”, “Polarized” and others, Shamim Sarif has built a powerful body of work that foregrounds queer women’s stories, complex identities and underrepresented voices. Her films and novels have resonated with global audiences by blending romance, politics and personal journeys in nuanced, emotionally rich ways.

The evening will feature a live interview with Sarif, exclusive film previews and an audience Q&A, offering attendees a rare opportunity to hear directly from one of contemporary cinema’s most distinctive voices. From navigating the film industry as a queer woman of colour to adapting her own novels for the screen, Sarif will share insights into her creative process, the challenges she’s faced and the importance of authentic storytelling.

The evening forms part of a wider collaboration between community‑driven organisations committed to inclusion, with partners including Mint, RepresentAI, and supporters such as Switchboard, Pride in London and others working together to celebrate and uplift LGBTQ+ voices.
