Hosted in London, the event featured acclaimed writer, director and novelist Shamim Sarif, whose work has long foregrounded LGBTQ+ and intersectional stories. Through an intimate conversation, Shamim reflected on her creative journey, the power of authentic representation on screen and page, and the importance of visibility for queer and minority communities in media and beyond.

The audience heard how storytelling can challenge stereotypes, create empathy, and open up new possibilities for inclusion—messages that deeply align with myGwork’s mission to empower LGBTQ+ professionals and allies around the world. It was also a valuable networking moment, with guests connecting over shared experiences at the intersection of identity, creativity and technology.

The event raised an incredible £1,000 for Switchboard LGBTQ+, a national LGBTQIA+ charity providing confidential listening, information and support via phone, email and web chat, delivered by trained LGBTQIA+ volunteers. This contribution helps Switchboard continue its essential work for those who need a safe, non-judgmental space to talk.

Built on a shared passion for representation and meaningful conversation, the collaboration between Mint and RepresentAI showcased how inclusive storytelling and accessible AI education can go hand in hand. RepresentAI’s mission - to ensure people don’t just hear about the future of AI but are part of building it through free events, training and resources - resonates strongly with myGwork’s commitment to inclusive workplaces and equitable access to opportunity.
