At Elsevier, we celebrate World Mental Health Day

October 12, 2026

What if listening were the first step toward real change?

This World Mental Health Day, the World Federation for Mental Health is spotlighting lived experience. The 2026 theme, "Lived Experiences Heard: Real Voices, Real Change," asks us to listen to the people who know mental health best: those living it.

At Elsevier, we see this same principle at work in scientific and medical research. Progress on mental health care starts with evidence, and evidence starts with real stories from patients, clinicians and communities. Our leading scientific & medical knowledge base helps those stories reach the researchers, clinicians and policymakers who can act on them.

However, research is only part of the story. So today, we're asking something simpler: who in your life might need someone to truly listen?

Small moments of connection add up. Let's start there, together.

If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out to a mental health professional or a trusted local crisis line.
