Australian gay couple uses anti same-sex marriage propaganda as confetti for their wedding

A gay couple in Sydney, Australia are celebrating the legislation of same-sex marriage by getting married on a float in this weekend’s Mardi Gras parade. The pair, Stuart Henshall and James Brechney, have also come up with a unique way to incorporate the “No” campaign into their wedding: by tearing up the hateful “It’s okay to say No” posters and using them as confetti.

“We thought wouldn't it be cool to get married at Mardi Gras for the 40th anniversary," Brechney said, “So it's been a bit of a rush but no regrets yet, it's been amazing.”

Brechney proposed to Henshall right after the result was called, in front of a crowd of thousands.

“I always wanted a huge wedding so 200,000 people is just enough," Henshall said.

The whole family has been practicing dance moves they’ll perform on the float as it moves along Oxford Street this Saturday.
