Investing in Mental Health

We’ve significantly invested in creating a healthy and supportive work environment. Over 1,200 team members have been trained in mental health awareness, with 18 internal Mental Health Trainers conducting comprehensive training courses. To date, 1,232 managers have been trained, and we plan to continue until all managers are equipped with the knowledge and skills to support their teams effectively.

Our enhanced employee benefits include updates to sick pay, maternity policies, and a new pregnancy loss policy. Colleagues have access to a range of supportive resources, such as therapy counselling sessions via the Digicare App, free digital GP consultations, mental health and nutritional consultations, second medical opinions, and annual health checks.

Combining Digital and In-Person Support

Our mental health initiative combines digital resources with in-person training to foster genuine human connections and a supportive workplace culture. Resources include a wellbeing playlist and educational modules on topics like stress management and workplace mental health. In-person training for store managers is prioritized to ensure that our leaders can create a culture of openness and support.

The impact of these initiatives has been profound. 79% of team members feel confident discussing mental health, and 74% trust their managers to handle such discussions. Participants' understanding of mental health improved significantly, and personal confidence in addressing mental health issues increased. The program has positively impacted staff retention, reducing turnover by 500 employees.

Financial Wellbeing

In addition to mental health support, we’re committed to fostering team financial wellbeing through our financial health strategy. Key initiatives include expanding the Wagestream pay platform, which provides transparency, control over earnings, and access to financial coaching. We have seen a 10% increase in Wagestream participation and a 15% increase in team members actively saving.

Our financial wellbeing efforts include launching a financial wellbeing podcast, partnering with Charles Cameron Mortgage Advisors for webinars on homeownership, and collaborating with Aviva during Pension Awareness Week. These initiatives have engaged hundreds of team members, providing them with valuable insights and resources to manage their financial health effectively.

We understand that mental and financial wellbeing are interconnected. By supporting our team members in both areas, we aim to create a holistic approach to employee wellbeing that enhances their overall quality of life and fosters a positive workplace culture.

Join us at Superdrug & Savers, where we are dedicated to supporting our team members' mental and financial wellbeing, ensuring that they can thrive both personally and professionally. Together, we can make a difference and continue to put a smile on our customers' faces today and tomorrow.
