Call for papers: Contribute to the 2025 #SaferToBeMe Summit

ReportOUT, Pride Action North and OUT North East are hosting the UK's biggest international LGBTQ+ rights Summit, called #SaferToBeMe in Newcastle and Gateshead this year. A week-long programme of events starting on October 20th, which is proudly supported by myGwork, is needed more than ever. As part of this week, a two-day conference will be held and they are after papers which address UK and global LGBTQ+ issues. The #SaferToBeMe Conference deadline for papers is April 25th.

With a broad theme of 'Power. Populism. Politics' and keeping the 'local to global' theme, ReportOUT is seeking papers which address either LGBTQ+ issues facing the United Kingdom, or globally.

Example topics could range from issues faced by LGBTQ+ refugees, cuts to development money, aid and HIV services, the impact of authoritarian regimes, the role of policing and the state, local hate crimes in the UK, or political choices impacting upon LGBTQ+ populations. This year's theme is meant to be broad, as ReportOUT wants to inform the public worldwide about what is currently going on in the world affecting LGBTQ+ people.

ReportOut is after workshops, seminars, papers, or any other interesting ways to engage the public, and to consider ways in which the LGBTQ+ community can resist the global rollback of LGBTQ+ rights.
