Cara Delevingne has joined Shailene Woodley in the upcoming Patrica Highsmith’s new biopic.

The new film – which is titled ‘The Murderous Miss Highsmith’ – is set to follow the beloved author’s early life and career beginnings just before she wrote her famous novel, ‘The Talented Mr Ripley’ – which is based on her love affair with two women.

Woodley has signed on to play the Highsmith with Delevingne and ‘Portrait Of A Lady On Fire’ star Noémie Merlant playing her lovers, according to ‘Gay Times’.

However unlike other biopics, the upcoming project will reportedly be shot like a horror film and showcase Highsmith’s interest in violent murders.

In addition to the horror aspect of the movie, ‘The Murderous Miss Highsmith’ will also take a deep look into how the American novelist’s intense love life shaped her persona.

Alexandra Pechman has been tapped to direct the film, with Christine Vachon and Gabriel Mayers stepping in as producers.

Lastly, filming for the project is set to take place this fall in Italy.

During her expansive and influential career, Highsmith was dubbed “the poet of apprehension” due to her writing books with themes questioning identity and morality.

The lesbian author also gained popularity for her novels featuring the popular character Tom Ripley and for writing The Price of Salt, which was later called Carol.

Before landing her role in ‘The Murderous Miss Highsmith’, Delevingne made waves for his roles in ‘Paper Towns’ (2015), ‘Suicide Squad’ (2016) and ‘Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets’ (2017).

On television, she led Prime Video’s fantasy series Carnival Row (2019-2023) and recently starred in the second season of Only Murders in the Building (2022).

Back in April, the Paper Towns star was confirmed as part of the cast of American Horror Story season 12 when she was spotted on set in an all-black ensemble alongside Emma Roberts.

The 12th season – which is tentatively subtitled Delicate – is reportedly based on Danielle Valetine’s upcoming novel Delicate Condition.

Like Delevingne, Woodley has also curated an expansive catalogue across the television and film sphere, including the ‘Divergent’ series, ‘The Secret Life of an American Teenager’ and ‘Big Little Lies’.

As of this writing, a release date for the film has yet to be announced.
