Cardinal Helps Trans Sex Workers During Coronavirus

Cardinal Konrad Krajewski, known as ‘The Pope’s Robin Hood’ runs the Vatican’s charities. The latest news is that during the coronavirus he sent aid to a group of trans sex workers who were left stranded near Rome. He wired to group money from the Vatican charities after the group reached out to their local Catholic priest for help buying food.

“Everything is closed. They don't have any resources. They went to the pastor. They could not have gone to a politician or a parliamentarian. And the pastor came to us,” Krajewski said.

He also stated that their passports were taken away by “mafia pimps who control them” and that they were out of work and without a way of buying food or essentials since businesses were closed.

Krajewski also said that “I don't understand why this is getting so much attention. This is ordinary work for the Church, it's normal. This is how the Church is a field hospital.”

As ‘The Hill’ reports, Krajewski, 54, is one of the youngest cardinals in the world and has helped establish shelters that provide homeless people near the Vatican with medical care and the opportunity to shower and groom. Last year he was responsible for the restoration of electricity to hundreds of homeless people living in a deserted building in Rome. He did so by climbing down a manhole, breaking a police seal, and reconnecting circuit breakers.
