Celebrating accomplishments during Black History Month at the BBC

As February unfolds, it marks the commencement of Black History Month in both the U.S. and Canada—a vital opportunity for reflection and recognition of the enduring struggles, remarkable contributions, and rich histories of Black Americans and Canadians. This year, the BBC is excited to embrace this month of celebration with an array of engaging activities designed to honor the resilience and achievements of the African American and Canadian communities.

They have planned a series of activities this month, from film screenings to playlists, that we invite everyone to participate in. Help them celebrate the efforts, strength, resiliency and accomplishments of the African American and Canadian communities at one of these upcoming events:

· “I Am” Employee Spotlight Campaign – A campaign for employees to share their personal stories, experiences and insights on the importance of Black History Month, its impact, its inspiration and how they hope to continue the conversation. The submissions will be compiled and will be featured throughout the offices later this month. To participate, please share your stories using this form: Black History Month "I am" Campaign.

· Black History Month Series Screening – We’ll be screening the BritBox historical drama series, Three Little Birds in our New York, Los Angeles and Toronto offices.

· Black History Month Playlist – A playlist featuring music from an array of Black artists will be played throughout the month. To spotlight as many talented musicians as possible, the genres will range from Hip-Hop, R&B, Soul, Jazz, Reggae, to Afro-Beats and more.

· Black History Month Local Events –We’ll be sharing a list of local Black History Month-inspired events open to the public in New York, Los Angeles, Washington D.C. and Toronto, which staff are welcome to attend.

· Celebrating Black Icons– Throughout the month, we’ll be highlighting up and coming Black icons and heroes on the screens in our offices. Be sure to stop by and learn more about their societal contributions next time you’re in the office.

· Happy Hours – Black History Month Happy Hours in our Los Angeles, New York, and Toronto offices will feature special curated drinks and snacks from Black-owned businesses.
