Celebrating Black History Month at WTW

In honor of Black History Month in the UK, Kaimana Davis, Marketing Coordinator at WTW, shares how the company is commemorating this important occasion.

This year, WTW is focusing on the theme of ‘Reclaiming Narratives’ to celebrate Black History Month. To do this we are hosting a series of events that reflect on the powerful stories, achievements and contributions of the Black community.

Our Multicultural Inclusion Network has organized the following internal events for our colleagues in October in order to celebrate black heritage and shout aloud about Black contributors and excellence:

Week One (w/c 30 September)

Opening Statement by Andrew Long

Our journey begins with an inspiring message from Andrew Long, sponsor of the Multicultural Inclusion Network (MCIN), setting the stage for this important month of reflection and celebration.

 

Week Two (w/c 7 October)

Celebrating Stephen Lawrence Newsletter

We will be honouring the legacy of Stephen Lawrence and highlighting his profound impact on the pursuit of racial equality.

 

Week Three (w/c 14 October)

Understanding and addressing Micro-Aggressions Session

In collaboration with the Young Diverse Workers' Committee (YDWC), an insightful discussion on micro-aggressions and their effects in the workplace.

 

Week Four (24 October)

A Chat with MCIN’s Sponsor Andrew Long

We close out the month with an engaging conversation with Andrew Long, reflecting on the impact of Black History Month and what the future holds for WTW’s Multicultural Inclusion Network.

Week Five (30 October)

Celebrating Your Blackness with Lydia Puricelli

A thought-provoking session led by Lydia Puricelli, where we’ll explore the importance of embracing and celebrating Blackness. This week’s newsletter will also showcase the vibrant Black culture and highlight significant contributions to British life.
