A coalition of prominent figures, including Elliot Page, Naomi Watts, and Benito Skinner, has joined the American Civil Liberties Union’s national awareness initiative, More Than A Game, to champion transgender youth and their families as the U.S. Supreme Court hears challenges to state bans on trans girls participating in school sports.
Launched in advance of oral arguments in West Virginia v. BPJ and Little v. Hecox, the campaign promotes unity, fairness, and shared values while rejecting efforts to divide women and girls. The cases center on state laws that bar transgender girls from school athletics.
As reported by Variety, the campaign features additional stars such as Megan Rapinoe, Sue Bird, and Brianna Turner, alongside young people, including the lead plaintiff in one of the cases. Its messaging underscores that supporting trans youth extends beyond athletics to fundamental freedoms and dignity, emphasizing that sports should be open to every child who wants to play.
More Than A Game also calls out political attempts to exclude trans student athletes, warning that such efforts can subject young people to invasive and demeaning sex testing. The campaign affirms that all youth deserve equality, respect, and the chance to participate.
Initial ad placements aired during the Unrivaled women’s basketball series over the weekend, with in-person activations planned at Unrivaled playoff games in Miami in early March. Chase Strangio, co-director of the ACLU’s LGBT & HIV Project, told Variety that this moment demands collective action—both in the courts and through a broad, diverse movement advancing cultural change. Strangio described More Than A Game as a refusal to be divided and a call for the solidarity needed to protect freedom on and off the field.
The initiative also includes exclusive merchandise designed by award-winning fashion designer and ACLU Artist Ambassador Willy Chavarria.
