CNN LGBT+ Town Hall Interrupted By Protesters Drawing Attention To Violence Against Trans Women Of Color

October 11, 2019

CNN LGBT+ town hall was held on Thursday and was interrupted by audience members several times, drawing attention to violence against black trans women, ‘USA Today’ reports.

Protesters were holding up a trans pride flag with the words “we are dying” written and shouting “Trans people are dying”, “Do something” and “Trans lives matter”.

Pete Buttigieg, South Bend, Indiana, mayor and Democratic presidential candidate said, “I do want to acknowledge what these demonstrators were speaking about, which is the epidemic of violence against black trans women in this country right now.

“And I believe or would like to believe that everybody here is committed to ending that epidemic, and that does include lifting up its visibility and speaking to it,” he continued.
