Commemorating Remembrance Day at Moody's Corporation

October 17, 2025

Please introduce yourself and tell us about your role at your organization.

I am Shelley Fuller, VP, Manager, People Reporting and Analytics at Moody’s Corporation. I will be celebrating my 20th year at Moody’s in January, where I initially joined in the Finance Team. In my current position I lead the team responsible for overseeing the development and governance of people data, ensuring that HR and business leaders have access to accurate, timely, and actionable information to support decision-making through data, reporting and analytics.

In addition to my professional role, I serve as Co-Chair of Moody’s UK Veterans Business Resource Group, where I help champion initiatives that support veterans within the organization and beyond.

What does Remembrance Day mean to you?

To me, Remembrance Day is a time for reflection and gratitude. It is a day to honour the courage, resilience, and ultimate sacrifices made by those who served and lost their lives in military conflicts. It is also an opportunity to express appreciation for those who continue to serve today and to recognize the importance of welcoming them back with gratitude and support when they return from active duty.

How does your company typically commemorate Remembrance Day, and what significance does it hold for your organization?

At Moody’s, our commemoration of Remembrance Day is deeply embedded in our values of inclusion and respect for diverse histories. Each year, we actively support the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal in London, with employees volunteering alongside military personnel and veterans. In 2024, Moody’s staff partnered with sailors from HMS Collingwood Victory Squadron to raise over £6,330 at Canary Wharf, contributing to a citywide initiative that honours the armed forces community.

This effort was part of a broader campaign that saw Moody’s team members help the RBL East London Command raise over £1 million in a single day, demonstrating the power of collective action and community spirit. The Veterans BRG plays a central role in coordinating these activities, ensuring that our observance is not only symbolic but also impactful.

These initiatives reflect Moody’s commitment to honouring military service across generations and geographies—whether through Veterans Day in the US, Armistice Day in France and Belgium, or Remembrance Sunday in the UK. They also reinforce our dedication to championing diverse perspectives and fostering a culture of belonging.

In what ways does your business promote awareness and understanding of the historical significance of Remembrance Day among employees?

As proud holders of the ERS Gold Award awareness at Moody’s is promoted through;

Internal communications Our intranet and communications from leadership, including our President and CEO, Rob Fauber, share historical context and personal reflections on military service. Additionally, our Veterans Business Resource Group shares events and updates in quarterly newsletters.

Visual engagement tools Moody’s utilizes themed digital backgrounds, photo tributes to veterans, and physical displays, such as our VE80 celebration featuring World War II memorabilia.

Educational events We host fireside chats with decorated veterans exploring resilience, mental health (with SSAFA and ex-service personnel), leadership (with the Royal College of Defence Studies), and inclusion (with Fighting with Pride). In 2025, Moody’s welcomed a senior research fellow from RCDS for a session on strategic leadership, offering insights into global defence thinking and inclusive leadership development.

Inclusion Celebrations Remembrance Day is incorporated into broader cultural and historical observances to foster cross-regional understanding and appreciation.

How do you personally support veterans within your workforce and honour their contributions on Remembrance Day?

As Co-Chair of Moody’s UK Veterans Business Resource Group, I actively contribute to supporting veterans in several ways:

  • Highlighting Veteran Initiatives: through newsletters and communications that spotlight veteran-related programs, milestones, and opportunities.
  • Organizing Events: I help coordinate both internal and external events. These include educational programs for our members and broader community initiatives, such as partnering with charities like SSAFA to support veterans.
  • Advocating for Veteran Hiring: I work to raise awareness of the value veterans bring to the workforce. This includes hosting events for hiring managers on the advantages of hiring veterans and collaborating with organizations to provide veterans with workshops on CV writing and interview skills.

Through these efforts, I aim to foster a supportive and inclusive environment that honours the contributions of veterans both within Moody’s and in the broader community.
