A children’s picture book called ‘My Rainbow Family’ has been released earlier this week in Zagreb, Croatia. The book features same-sex parents and was produced by the Rainbow Families Association, which has said the book has already sold out. It is reported to be first LGBT+ family book released in Croatia.

The launch took place at the French Institute and was endorsed by the French Embassy. Guillaume Colin, of the embassy, said in a statement that “we are confident that it is worth fighting for tolerance and respect for diversity, which are at the core of our shared European values. The fight against discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity is one of the key priorities of France’s policy of human rights protection, which was why the French Embassy was proud to support the publishing of the picture book.”

Croatia still has a long way to go in regards to LGBT rights, with two people being injured in an attack on an LGBT club last year.
