Darts player Noa-Lynn van Leuven is first trans woman to qualify for World Championships

Trans darts player Noa-Lynn van Leuven has earned her first qualification for the PDC World Darts Championship after securing a 5-3 victory over Beau Greaves in the Women’s Series 21. The 28-year-old secured her spot at Alexandra Palace with a commanding win over world number one Greaves, achieving an impressive 109.64 average in Leicester.

Van Leuven, who is the PDC’s first trans player, will make history as the first to compete in darts’ premier tournament in December, according to ‘Irish Independent’.

This marks the second time this year that van Leuven has defeated Greaves in a tournament final, following her 5-4 victory that clinched the Series Event 15 title in Germany in August.

The Dutch player transitioned in 2021 and joined the Women’s Series the following year. She also made history by becoming the first trans woman to compete in a televised darts tournament in July, appearing at the Women’s Masters in Blackpool.

Van Leuven's triumph in Leicester earned her a fourth title of the Women’s Series season.
