Debra Messing Blasts NBC For Airing “Racist” Trump Ad

November 6, 2018

Debra Messing, star of Will & Grace, has blasted her own TV network for airing a sensationalist anti-immigration ad, reports Entertainment Tonight.

The advertisement was meant to drum up fear of a “migrant caravan” heading to the US border to try and garner more votes for the Republican party ahead of the midterm elections. While NBC aired the ad, CNN Fox News and Facebook declined to, claiming it was too radical.

A statement from Fox read: “Upon further review, Fox News pulled the ad yesterday and it will not appear on either Fox News Channel or Fox Business Network.”

While Facebook told Reuters: “This ad violates Facebook’s advertising policy against sensational content so we are rejecting it. While the video is allowed to be posted on Facebook, it cannot receive paid distribution.”

Debra Messing called out NBC for airing the ad, saying: “To our Will and Grace fans—I want you to know that I am ashamed that my network aired this disgusting racist ad.

“It is the antithesis of everything I personally believe in, and what, I believe, our show is all about.”

NBC has since pulled the ad, releasing a statement saying: “After further review we recognise the insensitive nature of the ad and have decided to cease airing it across our properties as soon as possible.”
