Drag Race UK studio set to close

The studios used by the TV shows RuPaul’s Drag Race UK and Taskmaster will be closing next year, according to ‘BBC’. Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire, also renowned for hosting film productions from franchises like James Bond, Marvel, and Sonic the Hedgehog, will be shutting down its television production department that focuses on light entertainment and comedy programming due to an internal review.

The studio’s owning group stated, “We are very proud of the work the TV team has delivered over the years, having hosted many major titles for the UK’s broadcasters.” Productions already scheduled for 2024 and 2025 will continue as planned, and television productions at other Pinewood locations will remain unaffected.

This site featured three fully-equipped TV studios designed for producing sitcoms, panel shows, and live broadcasts. It has also been used for filming shows like Red Dwarf, Would I Lie To You, and Gordon Ramsay’s Future Food Stars. Pinewood has announced that it is in consultation with staff members impacted by the closure.
