Elizabeth Warren and Two Other Presidential Hopefuls Add Pronouns to Bios

Presidential hopeful Elizabeth Warren has added her preferred pronouns to her social media bios, joining two other candidates – Julian Castro and Bill de Blasio – in doing so.

“U.S. Senator, Massachusetts. She/her/hers. Official Senate account,” Warren’s Twitter account now says.

While her official Presidential campaign account now says: “U.S. Senator, former teacher, and candidate for president. Wife, mom, grandmother, and Okie. She/her. Official campaign account.”

“Elizabeth is committed to running an inclusive campaign, and wants every person to know that they are welcome in this movement,” said her campaign spokesperson Alexis Krieg in a statement to NBC News,

“Stating your pronouns publicly as a cisgender ally sends a strong signal of support to the LGBTQ community but particularly transgender and non-binary people that they are seen, accepted and supported,” added Lucas Acosta, a spokesperson for the HRC, the LGBT+ rights campaign group.

“(It) is a best practice for all campaigns at every level.”
