Festival favorite queer musical 'Out of My Comfort Zone' premieres on PrideFlix on November 4th

October 31, 2025

PrideFlix, Entertainment Squad’s LGBTQ+ label, has dropped the exclusive trailer for its latest original film, Out of My Comfort Zone, and confirmed a November 4, 2025 digital release. The announcement marks a major milestone for the heartfelt coming-of-age musical, which has been turning heads on the global festival circuit with its powerful performances, catchy original songs, and message of courage and self-acceptance.

Out of My Comfort Zone is a story about friendship, identity, and the power of music. Written by Ivy Vale and Rick Reil and directed by Vale, Out of My Comfort Zone follows two lifelong friends as their tight bond is tested by hidden feelings, identity struggles, and the looming threat of a cyberbully intent on exposing their deepest secrets. To survive, they must confront the truth – and themselves – all set against a vibrant original score.

The film blends humor, heart, and musical energy, drawing comparisons to Love, Simon, Dear Evan Hansen, and High School Musical while carving out its own voice. At its core, it’s a story about friendship, transformation, and the bravery it takes to be unapologetically yourself.

The project began as an off-Broadway stage musical that earned widespread attention, including a Playbill.com cover feature and praise from The Huffington Post, which hailed it as “a singing, dancing powerhouse punctuated by dialogue that rings true and real.” Now adapted for the screen, the film expands that emotional world for a new generation.

In the lead roles, Will Ehren and Violet Vale bring emotional authenticity and spark to the story’s romantic tension. They’re joined by Igby Rigney – recently cast in Ryan Murphy’s upcoming FX series The Shards – and Savannah Leroy, who deliver standout supporting performances that ground the film’s core themes of friendship and growth.

Out of My Comfort Zone has already built an impressive track record on the festival circuit, winning:

  • Best Musical Feature – Love Wins International
  • Best Soundtrack – Cinema d’Idea
  • Best LGBTQ Feature & Best Original Score – Love & Hope International
  • Best Comedy – Madrid International Film Festival
  • Special Jury Award – Alexandria Film Festival

Director Ivy Vale sees the film as more than entertainment – it’s a statement of hope.

Out of My Comfort Zone is a direct response to the overwhelming number of stories about relentless school bullying,” Vale said. “This film became my way of offering hope – where teenagers can see themselves reflected in the characters, feel seen, and find strength, even when life feels impossibly hard. These kids are figuring out how to be unapologetically themselves in the war zone that is school and the world.”

Out of My Comfort Zone will be available to rent or buy starting November 4, 2025, on major digital platforms including Apple TV, Amazon, DirecTV, Google Play, Comcast, Spectrum, and more.
