First trailer for Ryan Murphy’s new horror Grotesquerie stars Niecy Nash and Travis Kelce
August 16, 2024The debut trailer for Grotesquerie has been released, showcasing a level of horror exceeding any recent instalment of American Horror Story.
This forthcoming series, spanning 10 episodes, comes from Ryan Murphy, the creator behind the noted horror anthology. It centres on a “series of heinous crimes” that have “disrupted a small town.”

According to ‘Gay Times’, Niecy Nash-Betts takes on the role of Detective Lois Tryon, who senses these offences are “strangely personal, as if something—or someone—is mocking her”: “At home, Lois deals with a challenging relationship with her daughter, her husband in long-term hospital care, and her own internal struggles.
With no clear leads and at a loss for direction, she seeks assistance from Sister Megan, a nun and journalist from the Catholic Guardian. Sister Megan, having endured her own turbulent history, has witnessed humanity's darkest aspects, yet continues to hold faith in its potential for goodness.”
The plot further reveals: “Lois, conversely, worries that the world is falling into evil. As Lois and Sister Megan connect the dots, they become entangled in a dark web that only seems to create more puzzles instead of solutions.”
The cast features Courtney B. Vance as Marshall Tryon, Lesley Manville as Nurse Redd, Micaela Diamond as Sister Megan, Nicholas Alexander Chavez as Father Charlie, and Raven Goodwin as Merritt Tryon. NFL player Travis Kelce is slated to make his acting debut in a secretive role.
In the foreboding trailer, Detective Lois narrates, claiming it feels as if “a chasm has opened in the world, leading to the heart of nothingness” while she investigates a crime scene, accompanied by unsettling visions of nuns, demons, serial killers, and Travis Kelce’s hands.
“To understand this monster, we must unravel these murders,” a mystery voice (likely Sister Megan) remarks, with Nash’s character noting: “Something is occurring around us. No one else perceives it but me.”
Grotesquerie is penned and produced by Murphy, alongside Jon Robin Baitz and Joe Baken, with Murphy directing along with Max Winkler, Alexis Martin Woodall, and Elegance Bratton.
