Credit ratings is a famously closed shop: a handful of firms, recruiting from a handful of universities, concentrated in a handful of postcodes. Fitch Group is quietly doing something different in Manchester. The company has 320 live roles on myGwork, and its Manchester operation has just moved into larger premises on the back of a £15 million commitment to the city — a more than 50% increase.
Fitch's LGBTQ+ employee resource group is the Fitch Pride Network, and it was the company's first ERG — which tells you something about sequencing. It now sits alongside six others: BALANCE, EMBRACE, Green Wave, InspirAsian, the Women's Network, and Working Parents & Caregivers. As of 2025, half of all Fitch employees are engaged with at least one ERG, a participation rate most companies would envy.
The external record is strong and current. Fitch holds a perfect 100 on the Human Rights Campaign's 2026 Corporate Equality Index — full marks across workforce protections, inclusive benefits, inclusive culture and outreach — and that is its fourth consecutive year at 100. In the UK it is a Stonewall Proud Employer Champion and appeared on Stonewall's Top 100 Employers list. In Asia it holds Silver in the 2025 Hong Kong LGBTQ+ Inclusion Index.
The policy detail worth knowing: Fitch's global minimum is 16 weeks' paid leave for birthing parents and 10 weeks' paid leave for all parents, alongside a Global Caregivers Leave Policy. Preferred pronouns are built into company email signature templates.
Richard Jefferies, emeritus global co-chair of the Fitch Pride Network, described the culture to Attitude without any corporate scaffolding: "We are a place that welcomes people. We are a place that accepts people for who they are." He also made the point that small gestures — using someone's correct pronouns — often make the biggest difference.
Here is the part that genuinely stands out. The Fitch Elevate Program is a six-month paid internship for 18 to 22 year olds who are not going to university, based in Manchester across operations, research analysis, data analysis and learning support. For a sector that normally requires a degree and an unpaid summer in London to get near, that is a materially different door.
Alongside it, Fitch runs the Associate Analyst Program across Fitch Ratings, BMI, Sustainable Fitch and CreditSights; the NeXT Program, a 12-month technology rotation across software development, QA, SRE and DevOps, database management and emerging tech; and Fitch Scholars, an extended academic-year internship aimed at underrepresented students.
