Five Fun Eurovision 2023 Party Games
May 12, 2023The Eurovision Song Contest is a time for pure, unadulterated fun! Although the competition itself is plenty of entertainment on its own, sometimes the extensive runtime can feature a few lulls. To keep things exciting in those moments of waiting for scores or long commentary, why not try out a few of our party games?

1. Sweepstake
Place your bets! By the end of the week, there will be a new Eurovision winner. Do you think you might know who it will be? Put your prediction skills to the test by setting up a sweepstake with your friends/family! Everyone pitches in a chosen amount of cash and is given a random competitor in the contest. The person who has selected the correct winner at the end of the competition is awarded the full amount as a prize!
To make people more inclined to join, you can even split the prize winnings into three percentages – 50% for first place, 30% for second place, 20% for third place. Or, if you’re feeling generous, have the funds go to a charity of the winner’s choice.
2. Guess the Cuisine
Either a fun one for the host to set up, or one all the guests can contribute to! For hosts, try out your cooking abilities by putting together a collection of obscure dishes/snacks from various performing countries in the Eurovision Song Contest. Have your guests sample the recipes and see if they can guess what country it originates from! For an extra game, you can also ask them to rate your dishes based on taste and presentation.
To get everyone involved, ask your guests beforehand to bring in a dish/snack from a participating country. This way, the host can get involved, and you can also see how creative your acquaintances can be.

3. Drinking Game
Fans of Eurovision will know that there are many tropes that come with the renowned singing contest. From the famous ‘douze points’ phrase to the inevitably extravagant nature of the programme, there are many things viewers have come to expect from the experience. So, why not turn this into an excuse for a bit of fun? Put together a list of typical occurrences within the show. Line up your shots and pay close attention to your screen. Every time any of your predictions happens in front of you, take a shot!
If you’re not in a drinking mood, or are unable to drink for any reason, simply substitute your shots for a non-alcoholic drink. Or even turn it into a game of bingo - it’s all about the game of spotting your prediction, anyway!
4. Eurovision Quiz
The Eurovision Song Contest began in 1955 in Switzerland. Did you know that? Put your Eurovision knowledge to the test by hosting a quiz based on the famous competition! Whether you know nothing about the history of the contest, or you’ve been following it for years, a competition with such a bizarre and eclectic mix of performers is sure to inspire a unique list of questions with hilarious answers.
You could even incorporate different rounds – name that tune (everyone knows a bit of ABBA!) and questions dedicated to the participating countries. Get as creative as you can!

5. Scorecards
Tens across the board! Draw up or print out a bunch of scorecards and join in with the jury in voting for your favourite performances. Be as generous or savage as you like and explain your reasons for your score. Try not to let bias get in the way when your own country performs – rate it as fairly as possible!
A bonus idea: Keep track of your scores until the end of the competition. When the winner of the contest is announced, see whose votes matched the results. Those who gave high points to the top scorers will be the winners. Find out how your taste in music matches up with the rest of the world!
