French Version of Queer as Folk To Premiere This Autumn

A French version of the highly successful cult UK series Queer as Folk is set to premiere later this year, reports Allocine.fr.

The show is being produced byJoris Charpentier for Telfrance.

The original series premiered in 1999 and spawned its own American adaption in 2000, which lasted for five years.

“It will not be a strict adaptation of the characters and intrigues of the Channel 4 series,” Charpentier said.

“However, the story will take place within the world of Queer as Folk, and will inherit the show’s corrosive, insolvent, touching and deeply relevant tone.

“As for the pitch, the only thing I can tell you is that there will be heroes, heroines and true diversity.”

This year is the 20thanniversary of the original show, with a reboot of the English version also currently in the works.
