Gay Couple Attacked By Men Claiming To Be Cops
October 24, 2019A gay couple has accused a group of men claiming to be police in Charlotte, North Carolina for assaulting them.
Kenny Coppedge and his boyfriend, Jordan Frye were approached by a group of men who accused the couple of stealing from a friend’s purse and then became violent, “putting Coppedge’s arm around his back and throwing him to the ground” ‘Out’ reports.
“They just kept telling me that they were cops… and they were going to keep me there until they proved I didn’t steal anything,” Coppedge told local news station 'WJZY'.
After police with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department arrived at the scene the spoke briefly with the attackers and allowed them to leave.
According to a police report, the identity of the attackers is unknown.
Coppedge believes his attackers were police officers off-duty and is seeking justice for what happened to him and his partner.
“The way they were maneuvering us and the way that they pinned us down, it was like they were trained to do that,” Coppedge said. “I want them to be charged.”
