Gay Icon George Michael Gets Nine-Metre Mural In London
August 13, 2020A nine-metre mural of gay icon George Michael is to be painted in the London area where the pop star grew up. British artist Dawn Mellor will be creating a permanent painting of the singer in Kingsbury, which aims to recognise the singer’s life and music career.
Michael made his name while a member of the pop group Wham! In the 1980s before following a solo career with huge success.
He died on Christmas Day 2016 at the age of 53, at his home in Goring-on-Thames in Oxfordshire.
The artwork will be unveiled next month on 19 September on Kingsbury Road.
