Giuliana Farfalla – breakout star from Germany’s Next Topmodel – will make history later this week by becoming playboy’s first trans cover girl.

Farfalla, 21, will grace the cover of the iconic magazine’s German iteration in a topless photoshoot teased earlier yesterday on her Instagram.

“I’m on the latest Playboy cover and very proud of the result,” Farfalla wrote on the post that’s already garnered several thousand likes, “I hope you like the cover as much as I do.”

Editor-in-chief Florian Boitin said Farfalla was a “beautiful example of how important the fight for the right to self-determination is.” When asked about Hugh Hefner Boitin said having a trans cover girl would absolutely be in line with his tradition of being “resolutely opposed to any form of exclusion and intolerance.”

During her time on Germany’s Next Topmodel Farfalla had said she’d hoped her appearance on national television would help other transgenered models come forward. Born Pascal Radermacher in Breisgau Farfalla had said she always felt like she was in the wrong body and underwent gender reassignment surgery at the age of 16.

Farfalla is in good company, joining French model Ines Rau who became the first transgendered Playmate last year.
