The German Health Minister, Jens Spahn, has told newspaper Die Tageszeitung that he is going to ban gay cure therapy across the country.
“Homosexuality is not a disease and it doesn’t need to be cured. That’s why I’m in favour of a ban on conversion therapy,” he said in the interview.
“I do not believe in these therapies because of my own sexual orientation. I [believe] that God has something in mind.”
Spahn added that he will be working with Minister of Justice Katarina Barleyto ensure there is a “practical implementation” of the ban.
“The law must be clear enough to make an impact.”
