Google Play Store has Been Accused of Discrimination Towards LGBT+ Apps

A popular gay social network has accused Google of being anti-gay. The app has been continuously removed from the Google Play store without warning.

It looks like where stores are moderated plays a crucial role in the contents of the store, in this specific case the Google Store. It has been noticed that the store works with moderators in Malaysia, where same-sex relationships are illegal.

Christof Wittig, chief executive of Hornet Gay Social Network, has said about the issue that it's in the hands of the moderators to “remove LGBT+ apps worldwide, without warning”.

Google has said it does no comment on individual apps but has denied that the company is anti-LGBT+.

The gay dating app Scruff had also been suspended from Google Play several times and has gone on to introduce stricter profile image guidelines so it won't be suspended again.
