Grammy Awards 2025: All the LGBTQ+ and ally winners

With Chappell Roan, Billie Eilish, Troye Sivan, and Doechii as nominees, music fans anticipated that the 2025 Grammy Award winners would prominently feature queer artists.

Although some major LGBTQ+ music icons didn’t secure their anticipated awards – Billie Eilish didn’t win any of her seven Grammy nominations, and others like Kehlani and Clairo also missed out – other queer artists achieved significant success, as ‘MSN’ writes.

Here’s a look at five prominent LGBTQ+ winners from the 2025 Grammy Awards.

Miley Cyrus

Following her first two Grammy wins last year for Best Pop Solo Performance and Record of the Year with the hit “Flowers”, Miley Cyrus continued her winning streak by receiving the Best Country Duo/Group Performance award at the 2025 Grammys. The pansexual singer-songwriter earned this accolade for her contribution to Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter album track, “II Most Wanted”.

St. Vincent

Annie Clark, professionally known as St. Vincent, a queer "New York" singer, won an impressive three awards at the 2025 Grammys, including Best Alternative Music Album (for All Born Screaming), Best Alternative Music Performance (for “Flea”), and Best Rock Song (for “Better Man”). Her 2024 album All Born Screaming received critical acclaim and included a controversial tribute to the late trans DJ SOPHIE.

Doechii

Bisexual hip-hop sensation Doechii became only the third woman to win the Best Rap Album category at the Grammys, for her 2024 mixtape Alligator Bites Never Heal, joining the ranks of fellow queer rapper Cardi B and Lauryn Hill. The album includes the hit “Denial Is a River”, a song about Doechii – whose real name is Jaylah Ji’mya Hickmon – discovering her ex-boyfriend’s infidelity with a man.

Chappell Roan

Following her rapid ascent to fame in 2024, it seemed inevitable that Chappell Roan would win at least one of the six Grammy Awards she was nominated for in the 2025 ceremony. Ultimately, she claimed victory as Best New Artist, surpassing other recent hitmakers like Sabrina Carpenter, Doechii, RAYE, and Benson Boone.

Lady Gaga

The 2025 Grammy Awards marked a major event for Lady Gaga. Along with releasing her new single “Abracadabra” and performing a heartfelt rendition of “California Dreamin'” by The Mamas & the Papas to honour those affected by the Los Angeles wildfires, she and Bruno Mars won the Grammy for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance with “Die With A Smile”. In their acceptance speech, Gaga condemned Trump’s executive orders against the LGBTQ+ community, asserting that “trans people are not invisible”.
